Orosco

Kristie and her family live on the San Pasqual Indian Reservation in San Diego California.  She graduated from Cal State University San Marcos, where she earned a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a B.A. in Native American Studies.  She is currently a master’s student at UCSD’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Marine Biodiversity and Conservation program.  Kristie has professional experience in natural resource conservation planning, multi-jurisdictional collaborations, endangered species management, sensitive site compliance, indigenous language preservation, environmental education outreach, project mitigation, native plant programs, cultural resource management, and ethnobotany.  On the Indian reservations Kristie teaches indigenous art classes such as, how to make willow bark skirts and traditional foods.  She also teaches San Diego biodiversity and ethnoecology classes at local Universities and museums.  Kristie has served on many boards for her Nation, most recent are the following: San Diego Balboa Park Planning Committee Advisory Board, Climate Science Alliance Tribal Advisory Team, San Diego Port Authority Board Advisor, Museum of Us Community Consultation Committee, Native Lands Oak Tree Partnership, and the San Pasqual Band of Indians Cultural Committee.  Kristie is working on TWS projects to increase protections of wilderness land and solutions for ecological sustainability.
