Letter: Protect the places Americans treasure


There are some places in the United States that are so iconic they define our culture and history. Such places — like the Statue of Liberty and Governors Island — are here today thanks to the Antiquities Act, a law used by the president to grant national monument status to our lands, waters and cultural and historical treasures...

...Thankfully, representatives Chris Gibson and Richard Hanna have defended the Antiquities Act in the past and should continue to do so by voting against any bill or amendment that would weaken the act.
