Highway 2 Corridor Fact Sheet

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

The Highway 2 corridor spans the crest of the Cascade Mountains, encompassing the Skykomish basin in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and most of the Wenatchee basin in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The corridor provides incredible year-round recreational opportunities such as skiing, whitewater rafting and rock climbing as well as impressive views of majestic peaks. Three wilderness areas totaling 600,000 acres form the backbone of public lands along the corridor: Henry M. Jackson and Wild Sky to the north and Alpine Lakes to the south. These areas not only protect important natural resource values, they also offer unique opportunities to experience the beauty and wild nature of the North Cascades.
