In the sizzling Chihuahuan desert of New Mexico, blue skies are the norm and the sun packs a punch, making for huge solar development potential in the region. In particular, the proposed Afton Solar Energy Zone (SEZ), 2.5 miles southwest of Las Cruces, stands out as an exceptional area for solar development, and based on available data, could be developed with minimal environmental conflicts.
