Here at The Wilderness Society, we know that when renewable energy is built in the right places it can benefit our communities in a myriad of ways, including aiding the economy and helping to solve our climate crisis by reducing the need for dirty power plants.
This bill would set a budget, with limits for individual programs, for how the Department of Energy spends its money starting October 1, 2013. This normally routine business is something that both the House and the Senate do every year.
Yet, here we are, with people and the government unable to stop furloughs, job losses, and lower revenue to keep the government functioning. Our public lands have certainly not been spared from this indiscriminate budget ax.
